The ballast was defective and the light will have to be sent in for repair. Very disappointing. After two to four hours of actual use over the five months I've had this light, the light flickered and went out. I assume that this is an exception for DeWalt products.
Won't paid over $30 for it. Please do note that the lamp goes out quite suddenly at the end.On a side note, I used it on a patching job under the sink. Very good general purpose lighting. It ran for 2+ hours even on my old 18v batteries. It worked well while mudding, but not with the sanding and touch up because the white light on the dried patching compound resulted in a total blurr.Honestly, I only recommend this for the price I paid - $25 last year (gave that one away) and $28 this time.
I just set it on the work bench and take care of the generator then restart the unit. This is a well thought out solution to my problem. I have used a flashlight before and is a huge problem trying to fill the gas tank and hold the light. When we have a power outage I have to get my generator started and hooked up to the house. It pumps 5 gal. I have a problem with sump water in my basement. every 5 min. The DEWALT DC527 area light solves this problem.
The DW charger light is a much better product as another reviewer has said. It was not even worth the $23. Aside from longer battery life i see no advantage for this light as it does not provide enough DIRECTED light and is expensive now as amazon raised the price from $23 to $50 , that is over 100%. Come on amazon that is excessive. It is just a bulb and a plastic holder.
It has a hanger on it so you can use it in the air where you can hang it on a pipe. Its very bright and you can use it for any kind of work you do. This is a great product. This light is the most useful light I have ever used. The batteris last a liong time.
